Assin South MP, Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, has expressed gratitude to former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for showing solidarity after what he described as a politically motivated act of harassment.

According to the MP, operatives from the National Investigations Bureau (NIB) stormed his residence on Wednesday, April 9. He believes the incident was a deliberate attempt by the government to intimidate him due to his role as Ranking Member on Parliament’s Defence and Interior Committee.

Sharing his sentiments on X (formerly Twitter), Rev. Fordjour thanked Dr. Bawumia for visiting him in the wake of the incident.

"Thank you very much HE Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia @MBawumia for the visit to my residence this evening following the politically-motivated lawless act of harassment—an attempt by the NDC government to gag MPs from exercising their legitimate oversight,” he posted.

He further noted that the operation was foiled by members of the Minority New Patriotic Party (NPP), who intervened to prevent the raid.

Rev. Fordjour accused the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government of using intimidation tactics against opposition MPs to undermine their constitutional duties.
