Former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta has filed a lawsuit against two National Security operatives, accusing them of trespassing and violating his right to privacy following an alleged raid on his home.
The suit, filed at the Accra High Court on Monday, March 10, stems from an incident on February 11, 2025, when individuals believed to be National Security operatives allegedly raided Mr. Ofori-Atta’s residence in Cantonments, Accra.
The lawsuit lists two senior police officers, DSP Bismark Boakye Ansah and Chief Inspector Mensah, as defendants.
In his statement of claim, Mr. Ofori-Atta argues that the raid was conducted without prior notice or legal justification.
He stated that the raiding team failed to present a warrant or explain to his domestic staff the reason for the search but instead warned them against using mobile phones throughout the unauthorized operation.
Mr. Ofori-Atta further claims that the raid left his domestic staff traumatized, causing them to experience severe shock.
He also noted that neither the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB), the Chief of Defense Staff, nor the Inspector General of Police has confirmed whether the operatives were acting under their directives.
As a result of the incident, the former Finance Minister says he has suffered significant anxiety and distress, leading to substantial loss and damage.
Mr. Ofori-Atta is requesting the court to declare that the entry and search of his residence amounted to trespass and a violation of his right to privacy.
He is also seeking compensation for trespass and breach of privacy, along with a permanent injunction to prevent the defendants or their agents from carrying out any similar operation against him in the future.
