The Ministry of the Interior has declared Monday, March 31, and Tuesday, April 1, 2025, as public holidays in observance of Eid-ul-Fitr.
President John Dramani Mahama had earlier announced an additional holiday to honor the Muslim festival.
In a statement issued on Saturday, March 22, Minister Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak explained that Eid-ul-Fitr, which falls on Sunday, March 30, 2025, is a statutory public holiday.
To facilitate the celebration and serve the public interest, President Mahama has invoked his authority under Section 2 of the Public Holidays and Commemorative Days Act (Act 601) by issuing an Executive Instrument (E.I.) to designate the following Monday and Tuesday as additional holidays.
This initiative fulfills a campaign promise and acknowledges the vital contributions of the Muslim community to Ghana’s national development.
